Jim Carrey was a good Riddler. Before he was cast to play him, director Joel Schumacher wanted Robin Williams to play The Riddler because he like Schumacher is a Batman fan and he said that playing The Riddler would be very nify, but the script was not in his hands until January 1994, and when Williams turn it down (because he found The Riddler way too intellectual but not as comedic as The Riddler play by Frank Gorshin in the television series), Schumacher cast Carrey instead and the rest is history.
